Recently, I visited Compassion Korea by myself! I was invited to have a tour around the center and meet the workers there. It was a meaningful opportunity because I personally feel so connected with this place. I have been sponsoring a friend in Indonesia for 13 years through Compassion, and I worked as a Compassion Mate (volunteer translator of letters between Korean sponsors and foreign sponsored children) for 2 years.

What surprised me was the number of departments of this NGO. What especially interested me was how Film skills were being used. When the staff told me about their film documentary project in Indonesia, it really confirmed something I’d been thinking about, which is that what I enjoy doing now can actually become a meaningful skill that makes a real impact on real people.

I think at least once in my life, I would love to work in an NGO like Compassion. I am excited to see how my skillset will have chances to shine in a setting like this, where everyone is working toward a common goal: “releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name!”
