Recently, my two friends and I formed a small team with two more crew members and two more actors for a 7-minute film, Butterfly Effect. I am the cinematographer of the team! We finished the pre-production part and moved on to actually filming it, and we already had two successful days of shooting!
Last week, we actually visited a nearby forest (Gotjawal Forest) to film one of my favorite scenes. It was a scene where the protagonist’s object of obsession and fascination is first presented in the film; the scene should have a POV quality from our protagonist. So I got to make so many creative decisions, such as using our incredible parfocal lens, and a soft focus filter called “retro dream.” It was so fun and rewarding to apply my research on set as well! On set, I was blown away just by looking at the preview of our own footage! I haven’t felt this excited in a long time. I am so so excited for what’s to come next.
